An angry mob set ablaze a 15-year old boy after defiling and strangling a 12-year old girl in Murang’a.
Duncan Wakahiu, a form one student, was hunted by residents from Gituto village after the young girl’s body was found lifeless in his room.
The girl, a standard five, according to her grandmother went missing after being sent to local shop by her sister.
In her testimony, she said her grand-daughter Jecinta Wambui met Duncan who convinced her into his house on accounts of helping him unload some stuff.
She further narrates that on arrival Duncan asked other children in company of Jecinta to leave assuring them he will see to it that Jecinta gets home, something that never happened.
In the event, Jecinta’s sister began looking for her. It was at this point that the children came through about her last location.
And in company of her grandmother and other villagers they marched to Duncan’s home where they found Jecinta lying lifeless on the floor. she had been strangled with a tie.
Angered by the happenings, the villagers launched a manhunt on Duncan, whom they found working at a construction site.
However, they did not buy Duncan’s testimony when asked of Jecinta’s whereabouts. And it was at this point that they stoned and set him ablaze.
